Dear Visitor, It still pains me that AGENT CARTER only had two seasons. If feminists wanted a show about a strong independent woman, they could look no farther than Agent Peggy Carter. Dear Visitor, I finally got a chance to watch this. I really wanted to watch it in theaters but I don't like going to the theater alone and no one would go with me. GET OUT has been such a hot topic the last year. White People hated and Black People cheered and the rest of us were left in shock. One thing that I didn't understand about certain people's perspectives is that they considered this a Dark Comedy....I don't understand what's so hilarious about kidnapping black people and stealing their bodies like it's Invasion of the Body Snatchers. In my mind, this is a straight up horror. GET OUT starts with Chris (Daniel Kaluuya) and his girlfriend Rose (Allison Williams) are preparing to visit her parents. This is a big step in their relationship since She comes from a white upper-class family and despite Rod's warnings, the couple are on their way. Dear Visitors, Can we just give all the awards to Martin Freeman? Please? Pretty Please? Also please be advised of SPOILERS. I'll try to keep it at a minimum but here's your SPOILER WARNING! CARGO centers around Andy and his desperate journey to find a safe haven for his daughter, Rosie, in an Australian wilderness that is filled with zombie-like infected people and survivors who distrust EVERYONE. The worst part is that Andy only has 48 hours to find a home for Rosie. That's how long an infected person has before they turn into zombies! The only thing that made this movie bearable was Martin Freeman's performance. I always thought that he was a brilliant actor. He was believable as a father in a crazy circumstance and it was refreshing to see this father figure act like a protector and provider. Dear Visitors, This has to be one of the best series I've seen in a while. Thank you, AMC! This show s based off of a book that was based off of true events...if that makes sense. The Franklin Expedition is a real historical event where two ships were sent out to discover a new route through the Arctic. The ships and their crew were never seen again. So what happened to them? In Dan Simmons wrote a historical fiction book about the event with a supernatural twist. I haven't read the book yet but it's my list and now that the semester is FINALLY over, I can enjoy myself! Back to the show, what makes it so scary and intense is the vastness of the unknown. They're in the middle of nowhere with supplies running low, no way to contact help, their ships stuck in the ice, scurvy, paranoia, and some mysterious monster slowly hunting them down one by one. That acting, of course, is lead by Jared Harris, Tobias Menzies, and Ciaran Hinds and this cast makes the show...

Dear Visitors, My sincerest apologies to the lack of posts! I thought I had a handle on this semester like I did the previous. However, it turns out that this semester nearly killed me. The projects and big papers just magically piled on top of each other. I still have a week to go before summer break, but I thought I'd at least let you know that I'm still alive and kicking.....barely. Please be patient with me. Dear Visitor, It is now Lent so I thought about what I could possibly use for this month. I thought I'd share this gem. It is a metal cover of  Hellfire from the Hunchback of Notre Dame Disney movie. This is Jonathan Young and he is brilliant and making Disney and other Non-Disney song and giving them a metal twist. I never knew I needed a metal version of The Prince of Egypt or The Hunchback of Notre Dame.  I thought this would be perfect for the Lent season because A. this cover is really cool and B. this song is all about temptation. The way that Jonathan Young presents his cover really shows the struggle which I found completely different from the movie. In the movie I always saw Frollo as trying to justify his actions while Young's cover shows a man tormented with his temptation and lust. Are any of you participating in Lent? Dear Visitor, During the Super Bowl, Netflix premiered the trailer for THE CLOVERFIELD PARADOX and I about lost my mind with excitement. I love the Cloverfield franchise! So I was definitely excited about an installment set in outer space. However, it turns out not many people were happy with it like I was. I'm not saying that THE CLOVERFIELD PARADOX was perfect. You didn't really connect with the characters which is rather upsetting since the cast was stellar. There was also a little confusion with the arm. How was it able to tell the crew what they needed to know to fix the navigation? The loudest complaint I heard was that people were confused about what happened to the crew. I didn't understand the confusion. The characters literally tell you what happened and before they start up their machine, you hear a news report of a scientist explaining what the "Cloverfield Paradox" is. Seriously, pay attention! Personally, I liked this movie...

Dear Visitor, With THE CLOVERFIELD PARADOX on Netflix, which I will review later, I thought I'd look back at the film that started it all. I remember when this came out and I went to watch it with my friends. Our theater actually had an announcement that if you had epilepsy, you probably shouldn't watch this film. Dear Visitor, It is February so that means Valentine's Day and love songs! I picked Secret Love Song by Little Mix. I stumbled across this song when I was flipping through Kastle fan videos. Kastle (Frank Castle & Karen Page) from The Punisher, is one of my favorite ships. Anyway, when I found this song in it's entirety, I was reading the comments and found that many people from the LGBTQ community really attached to Secret Love Song Part 2 by Little Mix. It's basically the same song minus Jason Derulo. Taking a step back and listening to the words, you can really understand the feelings of forbidden love. My favorite line is "Why can't I say that I'm in love? I want to shout it from the rooftops". This song just has beautiful lyrics! Have you ever been in that situation where you were never allowed to express the love you have for someone?  Anyways, here's the Kastle video I was talking about! With Love, M.G. 

Dear Visitor, They've finally done it. A SLENDER MAN movie. I think a scarier story is the true story of the girls who lured their friend into the woods and tried to kill her as a sacrifice to Slenderman. I've never played that game and, to be honest, I never had the desire to. I might skip this one. With Love, M.G.

Dear Visitor, The whole time I was sitting in my Structual Oppression I class, I thought about this movie. How quickly moral superoirity goes out the window when your life is on the line. The film is about a group of people who wake up and find themselves trapped in a room with this weird orb in the center of the circle they're standing in. As they try to figure out how to escape, they realise the only way out is to vote for who lives and who dies. Quickly, they conspire against each other and attempt, rather poorly, to justify their decisions. I thought this was a great study on how groups see each other. As much as we are lectured about how we should "be global citizens" and sing "We Are The World", that mentality goes out the window when your life is on the line. All of a sudden you're willing to put people into groups like "the old", "the disabled", "married", "not married", "unwed mothers",...

Dear Visitor, I stumbled upon this one while goofing around on my Facebook. Honestly, I'll watch anything with Martin Freeman in it. I think he's awesome. Anyway, there's a mystery surrounding ghosts in this movie. What's not to like? With Love, M.G.

Dear Visitor, I watched this one last year on Netflix and thought it was entertaining and funny at the same time. I know it's not meant to be funny but it just came out that way.  One of the things that confused me about the language of the movie was that sometimes they would speak English. You know how Spanglish is a mix of Spanish and English? It was kinda like that. So it was a mix of Hindi and English. The film is abut a group of friends who think it's a brilliant idea to spend the night at haunted hotel as a last hurrah for a fiend who is moving abroad. While there they find all kinds of creepy things and later discover that they hotel was once an insane asylum. But now the malevolent spirit that calls the hotel home, refuses to let the group of friends leave! Who will survive the night? Check out Netflix and find out. Dear Visitor, For the first Trailer Tuesday of the year, I picked Black Panther. I can't tell you how excited I am for this film. I think it's great to see more heroes of color in the superhero genre. Personally, I'm still holding out hope for a Robbie Reyes Ghostrider Netflix series.  Enjoy the Trailer, M.G.
